If you raise the question of vaccinations with your doctor you are likely to be told that it is extremely important that you vaccinate your child. If you should be so naïve as to ask “why” you are likely to be told that vaccination is the most effective intervention of modern medicine which prevented more suffering and saved more lives than any other medical procedure.

If you decide to investigate independently, as lakhs of parents, doctors and scientists are now doing world wide, you will find, as I did, that nothing could perhaps, be further from the truth. Indeed, I urge you to investigate for yourselves. Dozens of Vaccine Research Books have been written - mostly by people from the medical profession itself. Some books are recommended at the end of this article.

There are many aspects of vaccinations that need to be addressed - however this report tries to deal with 2 basic questions only:

•  Do vaccinations prevent diseases?
  
  
• Are vaccinations safe? Do they have side effects or contra-indications of which parents ought to be aware before they vaccinate?

Infectious disease deaths in the USA and England declined by about 80% prior to vaccinations - measles mortality declined over 95% prior to vaccinations.

Whooping cough (Pertussis) deaths decreased more than 75% before the vaccine was introduced and after the vaccine was introduced people who were fully vaccinated continued to get the disease.

The very diseases which the vaccines were supposed to prevent have broken out in vaccinated populations. Measles, mumps, small pox, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough (pertussis), Hib outbreaks have all occurred in vaccinated populations. Medical journals and records are replete with documented evidence that not only did the vaccines “not prevent” the disease but actually “caused it” in places where the disease had been virtually absent for several years .

In 1950 a study presented by Dr. McCloskey published evidence that amply demonstrated that polio was a disease caused by the DPT vaccine usually starting in the vaccinated limb within one to ninety days after the vaccination - today it is caused by the polio vaccine itself. Every known case of polio in the United States since 1979 has occurred from the Oral Polio Vaccine. Today, America has voted to move away from the OPV and revert to IPV (the injected polio vaccine).

Says Dr. Mendelsohn, one of America's best known paediatricians, “…there is an ongoing debate among the immunologists regarding the relative risks of killed virus (IPV) vs. live virus (OPV). Supporters of the killed virus vaccine maintain that it is the presence of live virus organisms in the other product that is responsible for the polio cases that occasionally appear. Supporters of the live virus type argue that the killed virus vaccine offers inadequate protection and actually increases the
susceptibility of those vaccinated to the disease. I believe that both factions are right and that use of either of the vaccines will increase, not diminish the possibility that your child will contract the disease. In short, it appears that the most effective way to protect your child from polio is to make sure that he doesn't get the vaccine!”

In 1995 the New England Journal of Medicine revealed that a substantial number of Romanian children were contracting polio from the polio vaccine. Correlation with injections of antibiotics were found. A single injection within 1 month of vaccination raised the risk of polio 8 times; 2 to 9 injections raised the risk 27 fold and 10 or more injections raised the risk 182 times (Washington Post, Feb. 22, 1995).

(Did anyone know this prior to the vaccine campaign here in India? Parents? Physicians?)

During the 1962 US Congressional hearings, Dr. Bernard Granberg, head of Dept. of Biostatistics for the University of North Carolina School of Public Health, testified that not only did the cases of polio increase substantially after mandatory vaccinations (50% increase from 1957 to 1958 and 80% increase from 1958 to 1959) but that the statistics were manipulated
by the Public Health Service to give the opposite impression.

Dr. Viera Schiebner points out that the truth is that 90% of polio cases were eliminated from statistics by health authorities’ decision to redefine the disease which occurred when the vaccine was mass introduced. Thousands of cases are diagnosed each year in the US and all over the world as viral and aseptic meningitis. Prior to the vaccine these were called “polio”.

She also makes the chilling disclosure that all countries with intensive or mandatory vaccination of infants show a whopping 400% increase in cerebral palsy not diagnosed at birth.

Says Kathi Williams, Director of National Vaccine Information Centre (NVIC) USA “There is gross under-reporting of adverse events associated with the administration of drugs and vaccines. In addition past studies as well as reports to our centre by parents of vaccine injured children have revealed misdiagnosis of neurological events which, in fact, turn out to be
polio-vaccine-induced.”

In India what is our experience?

Time and again you see children with measles and they have been vaccinated. You see little whooping cough but you see children chronically sick with chest conditions, often with a dry hacking cough, which keeps the child awake at night for months on end.

Studies done in South India on the effect of the BCG vaccine showed that those vaccinated and unvaccinated -both had almost equal incidence of tuberculosis with the vaccinated showing a marginally higher rate of the disease (though not statistically significant).

Personally speaking, whenever I have met a person from the deprived section of our society carrying a child who obviously has paralysis from polio (about 4 in the last 2 years), I have stopped to ask “Kyon bhai, tika nahin lagwaya thaa kya?” (brother, did you not vaccinate the child?) The reply is the same each time “lagwaya thaa - per kya karein - taqdeer hi aisi hai - phir bhi ho gaya”. (yes, the child was vaccinated, but what can we do, his luck is bad - even then he got the disease)

Who is keeping a track of such cases? Did the vaccine fail to protect them or did the vaccine give them the disease?

Recently, in one of the Indian dailies there appeared an article with screaming headlines “Polio Vaccine totally safe, can never pose risk to a child”. However the article which quotes an official of the Unicef makes some very interesting revelations:

• that the worst that can happen is that the polio vaccine can cause a “polio-like” illness;
• that this happens in children with low defences;
• that in India 10,000 children die of malnutrition daily (?);
• that it was probably a coincidence that the two children who died in December 1996 had received the OPV and that they must have died from other causes like malnutrition because they belonged to the age group that generally dies of malnutrition in India - i.e. 5 years and below; (since the OPV campaign was targeting children only up to age 5 years who else would be affected?);
• that it is medically proven that a child cannot die of a polio vaccine.

• What difference does it make to a mother if her child's disease is called “polio” or “polio like”? If the child is in any way impaired - the name is immaterial.
• Wouldn't malnourished children constitute children with “low defences? And if so, shouldn't such children have been screened out of the program? Shouldn't children with fever and illness be advised to stay at home because they too would have “low defences”? Instead these children were coerced through misinformation to come “even if they were sick” (so screamed the ads.)
• What kind of “protection” is a vaccine which requires the body to defend itself against it?
•  That children cannot die of the polio vaccine is simply untrue - just about one and a half years ago 8 children died in one village from the polio vaccine in India itself - this had made headlines in every newspaper. If the deaths occur from incorrect storage or “bad” vaccine, it makes no difference to the children who died or to their parents.
• Who is going to monitor vaccine damage in India? (Let us not forget that OPV is a live vaccine and the virus is passed out of the body through the faeces and anyone coming in contact with the faeces of a vaccinated child is being exposed to the disease - India's footpaths, roads and fields are the public toilets for a vast number of the targeted children)
• Who is going to compensate parents for dead, maimed or brain damaged children (or for that matter those adults who now will be exposed to the infection)?

The question most people will ask is “how do we protect our children from childhood diseases?”

Says Dr. .Mendelsohn “The greatest threat of childhood diseases lies in the dangerous and ineffectual efforts made to prevent them through mass immunisation. …Much of what you have been led to believe about immunizations simply isn't true. There is no convincing scientific evidence that mass inoculations can be credited with eliminating any childhood diseases…. I not only have grave misgivings about them; if I were to follow my deep convictions in writing this chapter, I would urge you to reject all inoculations for your child.” (Dr. Mendelsohn has authored several books - extracts in this article have been taken from his book “How to Raise a Healthy Child …In spite of Your Doctor”. This chapter in this excellent handbook for parents is entitled “Immunization against Disease - A Medical Time Bomb?”).

He further goes on to reveal that small pox vaccine continued to be used 30 years after deaths from the disease had halted and children continued to die of the vaccine. (While the disease was earlier killing 1 in every 80 lakhs, the vaccine killed 1 in every 1 lakh).

Says Dr. Viera Schiebner, Principal Research Scientist and author of the book “Vaccinations - 100 years of Orthodox Medical Research shows that Vaccines Represent a Medical Assault on the Immune System”:

“The body has proper, natural mechanisms to create immunity to diseases. The diseases themselves are the priming and challenging mechanisms of the maturation process leading to the competence of the immune system. It has been demonstrated time and again, that infectious diseases of childhood are very beneficial for children to catch. They also represent important milestones in the overall development of children. The general inflammatory process is important in the dynamics of maturation of the immune response to diseases. …Orthodox medicine's futile efforts to stop children from getting childhood diseases is a sign of ignorance and a naïve approach. The fanaticism fed by ignorance, irrational fear of illness and greed are the moving forces behind the ritual of vaccination. Vaccine injections represent an enormous and unjustified insult to a young child”.

Elsewhere she says “While studying thousands of pages (over 30,000) written on vaccines I have not found a single paper which would demonstrate that in epidemic situations only unvaccinated children contracted the diseases. Even during vaccine trials many children contracted diseases against which they were vaccinated, often within a few days”

Dr. Viera.Scheibner tumbled into the vaccine issue almost by “accident” when she started on a research program to find possible causes for SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) or Cot Deaths. Babies, apparently healthy, were dying in their sleep of no apparent cause. Together with Leif Karlsson, a biomedical electronics engineer, she designed a computerised monitor called Cotwatch which was used to monitor the baby's breathing pattern on a computer print out. What was revealed was chilling - the DPT vaccine was found to be the chief cause of the cot-deaths.

This started her on the long and arduous task of researching and re-searching vaccination data. Her book “Vaccination - 100 Years of Orthodox Research shows that Vaccines Represent a Medical Assault on the Immune System” is the culmination of several years of selfless and difficult work. She brings out how statistics have been skewed either deliberately or through ignorance to convey the picture that diseases backed off due to vaccinations.

She found on re-searching that when studies were conducted using control groups - one group was given the vaccination and the other group was given “not a placebo but a deadly combination of noxious substances”.

Is this objective scientific study?

In yet other cases, those children who died from the experimental vaccine were excluded from the final numbers. This is the sort of skewed data that the medical establishment relies upon (without realising it) and upon which they base their recommendations to parents.

How are vaccines made?

1. Vaccines are made by passing the virus through the organs of animals and sometimes through dead human foetuses (the polio vaccine is ground up diseased kidneys of monkeys).
2. The vaccines contain poisonous substances - aluminium, mercury and formaldehyde (according to some sections of scientific opinion, there is no “safe” dose for formaldehyde).
3. In the process of this “giving” the disease to the animal and then “extracting” the needed sera many animal viruses cross over to human beings SV-40, SIV, monkey coryza, bovine retrovirus being the few that have been identified. (There are probably thousands of viruses that have not yet been “discovered”).

SIV is the monkey equivalent of HIV (the virus linked to AIDS). Says Dr. Schiebner “ The truth about polio and small pox vaccines is that they are heavily contaminated with animal viruses, being produced on monkey kidneys and calves respectively. This gave us AIDS which started in Central Eastern Africa in those states where the WHO conducted the eradication campaign against small pox and polio. The vaccines used here were heavily contaminated with both SV-40 and SIV and bovine retrovirus (another AIDS related virus). One syringe was used on 40 to 60 people and contributed to the spread of AIDS to hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting people. It is beyond coincidence that the present raging epidemic of AIDS is affecting mostly those states where the polio/small pox eradication was conducted”.

SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is the catch all phrase - a convenient waste basket - for babies who die “without apparent cause”. Through her extensive Cotwatch program Dr. Schiebner has proved beyond any doubt that the DPT vaccine is the main culprit behind this. When Japan raised its vaccination age from 2 months and 4 months to 2 years SIDS almost completely vanished from that country.

How many children die of SIDS in India? How many of them due to the vaccines? No one knows. In India - the damage goes unreported, unrecorded and we carry on in our dangerous complacency - until it happens to us.

What I do know is that there is a general and very stubborn resistance amongst medical practitioners to look for, see, note or acknowledge any connection between vaccines and illness.

A friend of ours went into a coma (later he died) a couple of days after he received the rabies vaccine - but the doctors discounted it as “not being significant”.

Does this sort of attitude sound “scientific”?

Says Dr. Schiebner “The general habit of considering side effects of vaccine injections coincidental is of special concern, whether it is the onset of adverse reactions like convulsions, fits and serious brain damage or the illness against which the person was vaccinated. There is now an enormous pile of “coincidental” adverse reactions or onset of illness within 14 or more days of vaccinations all over the world amounting to tens of thousands of cases.”

Says Dr. Mendelsohn “There are significant risks associated with every immunization and numerous contra-indications which may make it dangerous for the shots to be given to “all” children”. (Yet doctors administer them routinely, usually without warning the parents of the risks apart from saying that a fever may come and advising paracetemol or aspirin for this).
“…There is a growing suspicion that immunizations against relatively harmless childhood diseases may be responsible for the dramatic increase in auto-immune disorders since mass innoculations were introduced. These are fearful diseases … have we traded measles and mumps for cancer and leukaemia?”

Neil Miller, a research journalist, in his comprehensively documented book “Vaccines - Are They Safe and Effective” says: “Instead of vaccine damage …death certificates use impressive terms such as cardiac arrest, possible myocarditis, bronchial bilateral pneumonia, septicemia due to septic tonsillitis, lymphatic leukemia, streptococcal cellulitis, tubercular meningitis, infantile paralysis and SIDS to name a few.” Neil Miller's book reads like a horror story of case after case of testimony by parents whose children obviously died as a consequence of the vaccine and the doctors refused to take note.

A question that begs being asked is - when a child is taken to a doctor by parents and told that he has developed his symptoms after the vaccine , why do doctors refuse to take cognizance of it? Is there an unwritten law that vaccines must never be “blamed” for any problems.

Every time someone speaks against vaccinations (anywhere in the world) the medical profession dismisses it with total contempt. Worse still the anti-vaccination stand is condemned as anti-social and anti-national. Why, for heaven's sake, would all of us be spending all this time, money and energy (all our own - no grants, no aid) trying to study, research and inform?

Conclusion :

You must wonder why a lot of the information that is given here is quoted from foreign sources. Vaccinations are an imported foreign technique - most of West Europe (barring France) and Australia have done away with mandatory vaccinations - not because the vaccinations did away with the diseases but because the vaccinations were found (a) ineffective and (b) harmful. America is way behind - with a rising chorus of dissatisfied parents, doctors and scientists trying to do away with mandatory vaccines. And America is paying the price. Over $550 million (Rs.2,000 crores approx) has been paid in 4 years by the Government as compensation to parents of dead and brain-damaged children. In India we cannot expect the government to do this - but looking at what is happening in the countries where this technology came from - surely we can learn, surely parents can make informed choices so we don't have dead and brain damaged children.

I also believe parents and the medical profession must ask “what do these people have to gain by an anti-vaccination stand? Do they have a profit motive? Do they have an ulterior motive? Or do they speak with the voice of reason and genuine concern?” If they would but do that - they would be opening their minds to the volumes and volumes of data available that is screaming out urgent messages of caution against mass and fanatical vaccination.

In “Young India” Vol. XI-29 of July 18,1929, Gandhiji said “…I have no anger in me for the indifference of the public or Press over the incident (Secretary, Anti-Vaccination League, was imprisoned for not vaccinating his child). I am and have been for years a confirmed anti-vaccinationist Anti-vaccination has no backing from the orthodox medical opinion. A medical man who expresses himself against vaccination loses caste. Tremendous pecuniary interests too have grown round vaccination.”

We have come a long way since then - the media is the keeper of the nation's conscience and it has been heartening to see the media take on its role in the field of vaccination too. There is a new awakening - most definitely a paradigm shift is taking place - more and more orthodox doctors are turning to holistic healing - even the Delhi Government has made several moves recently in the “alternate” direction. More and more of the world has begun to realise the value of ancient Indian traditions in the upkeep of health of body, mind and spirit - traditions where measles and the poxes were a visitation by Mother Goddess to mark the milestones of the progress of the endocrine system and the reproductive system - where mumps was seen as a sure sign of future fertility.
